Bye Bye Tony Soprano
I didn't watch the last episode of The Sopranos. I couldn't. I axed all my premiums channels including HBO when I got forcibly retired a couple of months back.
Actually, I wasn't a fan of the enormously popular show. Being Sicilian, it reminded me too much of my relatives. It hit too close to home. Not that my relatives are mafioso. Or rich. But they are like Tony and Carmella and their offspring and cohorts in many ways.
So I didn't watch the Sopranos for the same reason I don't watch the popular NBC series, The Office. I've had bosses worse than Michael. Even relatively recently.
I was curious, though, about Tony's end, as it were, given all the media buzz. So I logged onto the HBO Sopranos message boards and watched as the show's obsessed fans gave a blow by blow of the final episode. Well, one guy was "watching" the final 60 minutes the way I was - via the boards. "I'm in China," he wailed.
From what I gather, the series ended with a fizzle, rather than a bang.
Sort of like life.
How disappointing.
