Hundreds of Cats, Thousands of Cats, Millions and Billions ....

Frank Hamilton at the Animal Coalition of Tampa said Wednesday that he'd heard that there was no more room at any of the "inns" for the possibly thousands of stray and unwanted kittens whelped during this breeding season. Cat Call, the St. Francis Society, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and the Hillsborough County Animal Shelter are full up, Hamilton said.

Other shelters likely are as well, or soon will be.

My buddy Sharon Taylor of WFLA 970 boosted the Coalition's $5 June 15 neuter-a-thon on her blog Wednesday. She tied it in to the rescue of two kittens from a storm drain near Lowry Park Zoo by 13-year-old-Michael and 17-year-old Christopher Fontaine.

As Sharon so eloquently put it, it doesn't have to be this way. GET YOUR ANIMALS SPAYED OR NEUTERED.

Please.
